17 February 2012
Wellard Rural Exports (“Wellard”) is delighted to congratulate Catherine Marriott for being judged the 2012 WA Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) Rural Women’s Award.
The RIRDC Rural Women’s Award recognises and encourages rural women’s contribution to primary industries, resource development and rural Australia.
Ms Marriott has extensive experience in the agriculture industry, having worked throughout Australia and Indonesia for Wellard as a consultant both on Wellard’s ships and providing advice to end-market clients.
She specialises in animal nutritional formulations and advice, supply chain assurance, welfare systems and feedlot management.
An advocate for women’s involvement in the change required in the beef industry, Ms Marriott hopes to establish a group of pastoral women from the Pilbara and Kimberley to build networks and promote their industry.
Agriculture and Food Minister, The Hon Terry Redman, described Mr Marriott as an inspirational young woman.
“Every day, women across rural and regional Western Australia make an outstanding contribution to their communities and this State,” Mr Redman said.
“The award acknowledges this work and provides the recipient with an opportunity to develop leadership skills and network with other women who are leaders in their community,”
Wellard Rural Exports Managing Director, Steve Meerwald congratulated Catherine Marriott on the award and her outstanding contribution to the industry.
“Ms Marriott has been engaged with Wellard in a consulting role for the last 3 years, providing nutrition studies, evaluation and advice both on-board and also in-country in Indonesia.
“I am delighted to have such a remarkable woman involved in the company and I can think of no more deserving person to have received this honourable recognition,” Mr Meerwald said.
