Final inspections

1 November 2014

Today the Paddock was a hive of activity as teams did photo shoots with their riders and bikes while they still looked shiny and new before Monday morning's kick off.

Sound testing and scrutineering was also on the morning’s agenda before bikes were impounded in the Parc Ferme. As usual there were a few last minute issues but overall things went smooth. It was evident that the FIM officials, who do the checks, wanted everyone to make it through as everyone had come a long way to race at the ISDE.

As you can imagine, organising the photo shoot was pretty interesting as racers just want to ride, so when they are near their bike the attention span is a little limited. However team management did a good job and within no time at all everything was completed.

The riders then filed on through the sound check to ensure their bikes comply with the maximum decibel limit and as I mentioned no one was turned away.

The last step before impound was having the essential components paint marked which is done to ensure nothing is changed after the inspection.

After that it's a short walk to the allotted area in the Parc Ferme to where the bikes will be held every night and that was the last time riders will have contact until they retrieve them for the start of the race.

The last bit of business to attend to will be the opening parade to be held in town tonight, but we will save that for the next instalment.
