Campdrafting Origins
Campdrafting is one of Australia’s fastest growing horse sports.
It takes years of training, dedication, skill – and a bit of luck.
And it’s all over in around one minute.
Campdrafting is synonymous with outback Australia and its cattlemen and women and their families, as is Wellard Rural Exports, and it is here the two meet.
Wellard, a family owned company, is Australia’s largest livestock exporter, and has a history of strong involvement with the local community. Whether it is supporting the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation or other organisations, Wellard has always been community minded and it is this mindset that has prompted Wellard, along with a group of local Campdraft enthusiasts, to stage one of WA’s biggest campdrafts.
The “Wellard Star of the West” is set to become one of WA and Australia’s most prestigious campdrafts and community events. So whether you are an avid “drafter” or simply someone who is keen for a look, get out to Northam from November 6th-8th and become part of a great Australian home grown sport.
